About Custom Kitchen Renewal
Custom Kitchen Renewal is BMD's craftsmanship driven alternative to traditional cabinet refacing. Instead of tearing out your entire kitchen or covering it with laminate systems, we transform your existing cabinetry using custom built doors, architectural details, premium sprayed finishes, and real woodworking techniques. We preserve the cabinet structure that is already working, then rebuild and refine everything you actually see and touch. The result feels intentional, seamless, and far closer to custom cabinetry than traditional refacing.
If your existing cabinet boxes are structurally sound, the finished result is often visually indistinguishable from new custom cabinetry. You are replacing the parts of the kitchen people actually experience; the doors, drawer fronts, finishes, hardware, trim details, and visible surfaces. In many cases, we also modify cabinetry to improve function and appearance. The advantage is that you avoid unnecessary demolition, major disruption, and the cost of rebuilding cabinet structures that are already serving their purpose.
Most Custom Kitchen Renewal projects are completed far faster than a full kitchen remodel because there is little to no demolition involved. Your exact timeline depends on the size and complexity of the project, but most installations are completed in days rather than months. We provide a clear timeline during your in home consultation.
No. Because we are working with your existing kitchen layout and cabinet structure, your countertops, appliances, plumbing, and overall kitchen remain in place throughout the process. There may be brief periods where certain cabinet areas are inaccessible during installation, but your kitchen remains functional for the vast majority of the project.
Cabinet painting simply changes the color of your existing doors and surfaces. Custom Kitchen Renewal goes much further. Most projects include brand new custom doors and drawer fronts, upgraded hardware, detailed surface preparation, grain refinement where needed, architectural trim work, and professional sprayed cabinet grade finishes designed specifically for long term durability and a furniture grade appearance. This is not a quick cosmetic repaint. It is a full visual and functional transformation built around craftsmanship.
Pricing & Process
Most Custom Kitchen Renewal projects fall between $8,000 and $12,000 — compared to $25,000 or more for a full remodel — depending on the size of the kitchen, door style, finish selection, and the amount of custom modification involved. Because every kitchen is different, we provide a fixed written quote after the in home consultation with clear pricing and a defined scope of work; no vague allowances or inflated ranges.
The $129 fee keeps our calendar focused on serious projects. It means Ben spends time with homeowners who are genuinely ready to move forward. If you move forward with the project, the $129 is fully credited back — so the only people who pay for it are the ones we don't end up working with.
No. The written quote you receive after the consultation is a fixed price — not a range, not a starting point. We don't add costs halfway through the job.
Yes. Ben brings real wood samples and finish samples to the in-home consultation. You approve the door style, finish, and layout before anything is ordered or built. Nothing moves forward without your sign-off.
We don't offer in-house financing, but many clients use personal loans or home equity options. Call or text us and we can talk through what works for your situation.
Is Custom Kitchen Renewal Right for Me?
The biggest factor is whether your existing cabinet structure is still solid. If your cabinet boxes are structurally sound and your overall kitchen layout still works for your home, Custom Kitchen Renewal is often the ideal solution. It allows you to dramatically transform the appearance and feel of the kitchen without unnecessary demolition or the cost of rebuilding cabinetry that is already functioning well. During the consultation, our team evaluates the condition of the cabinetry and helps determine whether the process is the right fit for your space.
Then we will tell you honestly. Some kitchens need cabinet modifications, additional cabinetry, layout improvements, or more extensive work beyond a standard renewal process. Other kitchens may have structural damage or existing construction issues that make a full replacement the better long term solution. Our goal is not to force every kitchen into the same system. Our goal is to help you make the right decision for your home. If a project falls outside what we believe will produce a high quality result, we will explain that clearly and walk through your options with you.
Kitchens are the primary focus of BMD, but our craftsmanship extends far beyond kitchens alone. With more than 25 years of millwork and woodworking experience, our team also works on built ins, libraries, mudrooms, closets, fireplace surrounds, wall details, custom door replacements, and other architectural woodworking projects throughout the home. If you have a project outside the kitchen, feel free to reach out and we will let you know if it is something we are the right fit for.
